The streetlamps came on

I was there - 4:34 or 4:31

I might have missed some seconds

between the hall and the kitchen

when I ran to switch my laptop on.

No clocks to track the shortening time.

No light to beat the dull autumn sky.

I stare at yellow shades on blinking eyes,

my soul slipping into seasonal depression.

A pathetic attempt to capture the joy of the sun,

I ponder, popping tiny yellow tablets of supplemental fun.
