Love by Marine Drive

Two poems meet on the sidewalk

a busy street in Mumbai

peck on the cheek

can’t kiss in public

head giddily to marine drive

Marine drive stretches

like a concrete crescent

holding back the Arabian sea

while lovers and loners

flock to its bended corners

seeking protection and false privacy

Sit in the salt and wind

let words unwind

lift up and fall back down

creating passionate nouns

promises rhythm and rhyme

between desperate kisses

and slipping time

meld the two verses

to a single stanz.
